Julia Ott (she/her) is a New York City based director, writer and actor. She received her BFA in Drama from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts in the spring of 2025.
Raised in a small mountain town in Idaho, Julia’s first encounter with the arts was through performing in community theater and putting on shows in her backyard for the birds to watch.
Her work spans theater, film, and television with credits including The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and The Diplomat on Netflix.
Julia is drawn towards secrets. The secrets people keep from each other and what motivates that decision. In the work that she creates, she hopes to show audiences that they are not alone in their secret keeping and that maybe someone else feels the exact same way they do.
Upcoming Julia will be working for The Telluride Film Festival as a Developmental Intern, making her directorial debut as a filmmaker with her debut short film “Hawk”, and will be studying at The La MaMa Umbria International School with support from the Kenan Institute of the Arts.
